July 26, 1939: County asked for pensions

A retirement pension system for county employees was placed before the Board of Supervisors this week by a committee from the San Joaquin County Employees Association, headed by Wallace H. Street, of Lodi, president.

The request was submitted at an informal session and was taken under advisement by the board after it was learned that the cost of the program would add several cents to the tax rate.
