City of Lodi took charge of library 100 years ago

The Lodi Library can trace its roots back to the spring of 1882, when seven pioneers donated $251 to rent three rooms on Sacramento Street and buy books for a town library.

For the next 25 years, the Lodi Library and Reading Room struggled through a devastating fire, frequent location changes and meager funds based entirely on donated money and materials.
