June 26, 1934: Papers urged to aid fight on fruit fly

As part of its co-operation in the war against the Mediterranean fly and Spanish grapes, The Sentinel is today sending copies of Saturday’s issue to leading newspapers of New York, Florida, Illinois and Georgia.

This is done so publishers of papers in these states may tell their readers of the peril presented by foreign grapes carrying the fly to fruit growers in their states.
