Migrations of members of the Reimche and Bechtold families — through centuries, across half the world, before their eventual settlement in Lodi — are traced in tow genealogies recently presented to Lodi Public Library. The last leg of their odyssey, from the Dakotas to Lodi, is well know here because a large number of other families of German descent have traveled the same route.

The genealogies were complied by Mrs. Lillian Bechtold Palmer, of Stockton, a member of one of the families. She was assisted by various individuals in the family groups.
