Mabel Richey has a special place in Lodi history.

A stylish woman who wore prim hats and gloves in photographs from the 1950s, Mabel Richey was described consistently as gracious, witty and likeable, as well as tough and tenacious. She was a woman involved in her community and unafraid of barriers. She was the first woman on the Lodi City Council and the city’s first female mayor.
