Garage owner helped develop Victor Duster with sons

From the 1920s to the mid-1940s, the springtime job of applying sulphur to grape vineyards and orchards was easier, thanks to the Victor Duster.

The Victor Duster was an odd-looking machine built on a revamped Model A Ford frame. While one man drove the vehicle through an orchard, another man sat in back and aimed a large hose that shot out sulphur dust over the trees. One man could operate the machine when it was used to apply sulphur to grapevines. The sulphur was needed to prevent mildew on the developing crops during the spring. Before this machine, farmers had to carry cumbersome backpack dusters and walk their fields.
