Our immune system is responsible for fighting foreign invaders to the body such as bacteria and viruses, and also for destroying cells within the body when they become cancerous. When we have a strong immune system, we are less likely to be affected by the daily exposures to pathogenic bacteria and carcinogens in the air, food, water — much of which can’t be avoided.

Researchers are exploring the roles of diet, exercise, age, stress and sleep as to how they affects our immune system. Until we learn more, what we do know is that general healthy living strategies are a good place to start.
