Prediabetes is nothing to ignore, nor does it mean you just dodged a bullet. It means blood sugar levels are higher than normal, but not yet high enough to be classified as diabetes.
The Center for Disease Control estimates that more than one third of adult Americans — and half of those over age 65 — have prediabetes. If you aren’t having regular checkups and blood work done, you may not know you are at risk.
