It's a new year, and many of us make new promises to ourselves about how we can improve our lifestyles. So keep in mind that parents are the first line of defense for protecting their children from unhealthy lifestyle choices and unhealthy weight.
With nearly one-third of our nation's children overweight or obese, we are setting them up for increased risk of diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure and cancer. This is a very real and serious matter, and parents can help themselves and their children by making a few changes.
