Most of the time when I ask folks about their fiber intake they tell me they get enough. I may hear, "I eat fruits and vegetables," but what I find is that few get the 25 to 35 grams of fiber every day that's recommended.

There's talk of that number being raised to 30 to 45 grams daily; that's just how important it is to your health. A low-fiber diet is associated with constipation, diverticular disease, colon cancer, endometrial cancer and even type-two diabetes.
