When you meet Tom Hoffman, owner/winemaker of Heritage Oak Winery, you can’t help but be struck by his pensive nature and the steely will of someone cognizant of a family legacy of farming in the Lodi region since 1868.

The farm that he took over from his father, Robert Hoffman, in 1981 principally supplied the giant sized wineries, as do most Lodi vineyards even ’til today; yet the younger Hoffman’s outlook was initially optimistic.
