Jennifer: Someone told me Earth Day was coming up. When is it, and what's the history behind it?
Earth Day is celebrated every year on April 22, so it falls on Wednesday this year, but often festivities are held throughout the week. It was founded in 1970 by U.S. Sen. Gaylord Nelson, of Wisconsin, as a day designed to inspire awareness and appreciation for our environment. Reportedly, approximately 20 million Americans took part in the first observance, while today it is annually celebrated in many countries.
