Dear Jennifer: I read an article a few months back about a man in the Sacramento area who died when his vehicle drifted into oncoming traffic. The police said there was a dog in the vehicle that I presume may have contributed to the accident.

I would think this distraction is as bad as texting or talking on your cellphone. which as we all know is against the law. Is it legal to have an unrestrained animal inside your vehicle?
