Dear Jennifer: My cousin works for Lodi Unified School District and she said all of their paychecks are sent to Stockton to get the county superintendent's signature. If this is true, it must cost a fortune in postage. If school districts are trying to save money, wouldn't it make sense to keep that in-house?
Answer: It seems there is some confusion. I asked Michael McKilligan, assistant superintendent of personnel, about this and he told me the district's checks are laser paychecks. So, signatures are pre-printed on paychecks at the office, he said.
