Dear Jennifer: Is it true that Lodi residents are allowed to have three egg-laying chickens? I own a home in Lodi and would really love to have a couple of chickens to provide my eggs. Please let me know if this is true and what I have to do to be allowed to have laying chickens.

The city ordinance is clear that residents within city limits may be permitted to keep up to three chickens (not roosters) so long as their eggs are for personal consumption and not for sale.
