Jennifer: I know that there are two area school districts searching for new superintendents, but I was surprised to see the discrepency between their salaries. Who makes these decisions?

The short answer is, the school board that hires the superintendent decides how much he or she will be paid. It's all part of an agreed-upon contract which is approved in private before becoming a public document.
