It’s that joyous time of year when our mailboxes are stuffed with Halloween, Thanksgiving and even Christmas ads — and flyers from almost every health care plan existing. That’s right, it’s open-enrollment time for Medicare recipients, that chore we too often ignore because it’s not an easy one.

But from Oct. 15 to Dec. 7, you have the opportunity to change your Medicare Part D (prescription) plan. Reasons for switching plans are varied, but are always money related: you want to lower your costs, which may have skyrocketed, or your plan changed the list of drugs they cover, affecting your costs.
