What’s the attraction: On an out-of-the-way road in southeast Stockton, an elaborate gray gate flanked by golden lions leads onto the grounds of Wat Dhammararam, a Cambodian Buddhist temple. The mural-decorated temple is home to more than 90 statues, and will play host to a Cambodian New Year celebration this weekend.
The statues: The largest and most striking statue on the temple grounds is a 50-foot-long statue of the Buddha lying on his side. The statue represents the Buddha’s final moments on Earth as he leaves for Nirvana and is a staple for every Cambodian Buddhist temple.
