Help solve the 158-year-old Gaherty-Jarvis “cold case” shooting mystery alongside the staff and costumed volunteers at Columbia State Historic Park in Columbia.

Where: Murder Mystery Mornings at Columbia State Historic Park, 11255 Jackson St., Columbia.
When: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. July 26, Aug. 2, 16 and 30.
Cost: $5 for adults and $1 for children.

Considerations: Due to the violent nature of this event, parents may find that it is not appropriate for children under the age of 12. All children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Space is limited for these events, so reservations are highly recommended.

Was it murder? Who was the killer? Why did they shoot?
For 158 years these questions have gone unanswered in the case of the Gaherty-Jarvis shooting that occurred in Columbia in 1856. This unsolved crime has remained on the books for far too long, and now the time has come to find the answers. To do this, the community has been invited to help solve this tragic, real life “cold case.”
