The beach turns to glass at your feet as you descend upon the shoreline. You marvel at the rounded fragments of color mixed with sand, beckoning you to stop and examine them. And when you answer their call you discover you have landed on a beach full of sea glass — Glass Beach in Mendocino County.
This colorful glass was once trash that was transformed into shiny, polished nuggets of many shapes and sizes by years of pounding surf and rolling ocean waves — nature’s way of reclaiming what was once hers.
