When Terri Whitmire realized there was a need for a program to help people with early memory loss, she began doing some research. She came across the Brain Builders program, which helps those with early memory loss keep their brains active.

Whitmire, the director of Adult Day Services at Hutchins Street Square, started administering the program in 2008. She said the program can help to delay dementia and Alzheimer's because patients are given exercises that use all parts of the brain.
