Stylish cards, photos and more at Vintage Paper Fair
A display of old drawings, photographs and advertisements is seen at the Vintage Paper Fair in San Francisco. The fair, featuring vintage postcards, trade cards, old paper and more, will be held this weekend at the Hall of Flowers in Golden Gate Park.

Where: Hall of Flowers, San Francisco County Fair Building, Golden Gate Park, 9th and Lincoln, San Francisco.
When: Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Considerations: There is free street parking in Golden Gate Park, but arriving early is advised if you want to park close to the Hall of Flowers. Keep in mind the merchandise is vintage so be cautious if you have bad allergies.

Paper is so useful. You can write on it, you can wrap things in it, you can make dolls and origami out of it, and you can wad it up and spit it at your fellow humans — OK, maybe not after the age of 10, but you get the drift.
Paper has had a permanent function in most cultures since its invention in China somewhere between 140 B.C. and 105 A.D. We use paper for everything, even in this high-tech age.
