The dirt covered streets lay before you. Do you follow the music into the saloon for an afternoon drink and a hand at cards? Do you follow the fever and try your luck at discovering your fortune in gold? Or do you take in a day of shopping to find the latest fashions in waistcoats, silk scarves and top hats? It’s a tough decision, but easily decided at the 14th Annual Gold Rush Day’s in Old Sacramento.
For the annual festival, more than 200 tons of dirt has been trucked in to cover the streets, transforming Sacramento’s historic district into a scene straight out of the 1850s. You will see history come to life as costumed performers portray historical figures, personalities, regular families and miners as they appeared during the Gold Rush era. You will also have a chance to take in the music scene of the time on multiple stages as old-time musicians perform the top tunes of the day.
