One of the area’s premier resorts is the Wine and Roses, located on seven acres near the intersection of West Turner and Lower Sacramento roads in northwest Lodi.

The hotel has 36 rooms, which run from the “historic inn room” that costs $149 per night, to the “vintner suite with loft” that costs $375.

Rooms include mini bars and Internet service, and can include fireplaces and spa bathtubs.

Spa services offered by the hotel include a wellness massage, deep tissue massage and the Wine and Roses “ultimate treatment.”

Wine and Roses is also located near the Lodi Wine and Visitor Center, which offers a wide selection of area wines available for tasting as well as exhibits on how winegrapes are grown and turned into wine and what makes the Lodi area so well-suited for grape growing.

Although smaller, the Amorosa Inn and Gardens offers a Lodi visitor lodgings that are as peaceful as the Wine and Roses and also come with an opportunity to discover Lodi’s wine industry.

Amorosa Inn and Gardens offer four rooms with rates starting at $149 for three queen rooms and $179 for a master suite. The inn, which was once a private home, is located on a country lane off East Harney Lane in the vineyards outside Lodi.

Advance reservations are suggested, as rooms usually are quickly filled on weekends during the summer and September. Guests receive complimentary wine and appetizers in the evening and breakfast in the morning. The master suite features a king-sized canopy bed, plasma TV, sauna, fireplace and patio.

The inn is owned by the same owners of Vino Con Brio winery, which recently opened a custom tasting room on the property. Visitors can sample the whole line Vino Con Brio wines which include such varieties as Pinotage and Zinfandel.

The Inn at Locke House is another of the Lodi area’s bed and breakfasts and offers visitors five rooms in the historic home of Dr. Dean Jewett Locke, the founder of the rural town of Lockeford, which is located about seven miles to the east of Lodi.

Amenities at the inn include a “confection of the day” and the many historic touches to the four guest rooms and suite in the property’s refurbished water tower. Each room has a private bath.

Rates start at $125 per night for main rooms and $195 for the suite.
