Lodi’s Mayor Beckman welcomes city visitors
Welcome to the Lodi community. It is a pleasure and honor to have you visit. During your visit please take time to explore and experience all that is Lodi.
A former mayor affectionately named our city “livable, lovable Lodi,” and I am sure you will agree after you discover all the community has to offer and meet our warm, friendly and helpful citizens.
Lodi is the largest grape growing region in the state, with over 75,000 acres of grapes. It is world renowned for its Zinfandel varietals. The Lodi area is home to more than 40 small wineries and most have tasting rooms.
The greater Lodi area boasts some of the finest recreation facilities in the state. You can sky dive, golf, or explore the delta by boat. Lodi is the gateway to over 1,000 miles of Delta waterways. One of the jewels of Lodi is Lodi lake. The lake offers many recreation pursuits, from boating, swimming, picnicking, and bird watching, a walk through a true wilderness area, to just plain relaxing. The regional Micke Grove park features a zoo, children’s amusement park, a Japanese garden, and a variety of picnic areas. The Micke Grove golf course borders the park.
While you are here, you won’t want to miss our beautiful historic downtown. Lodi’s downtown district is the heart of the city. It offers many fine restaurants, a state of the art twelve screen movie theater and shopping with ample free parking and at our downtown parking garage.
All that Lodi has to offer in amenities is only secondary to the warm, friendly and helpful people you will meet during your visit.
Most of what Lodi has to offer is as a result of the strength of character of the Lodi citizens, who fund raise millions of dollars for good causes and volunteer millions of hours to better our community. Everywhere, you will meet warm, friendly, helpful Lodians willing to share information about our community: they truly make Lodi memorable and lovable.
Lodi is a city of warmth and charm, and we hope that you will return again and again to visit us.
John Beckman is the mayor of Lodi for 2005.
