ABCs of Lodi shopping
A is for antiques, b is for books. C is for cookie cutters, and d is for dog treats.
Name a letter of the alphabet, and there is likely to be a matching item found in any one of Lodi’s numerous stores.

In downtown Lodi alone, shoppers can spend hours browsing in shops ranging from Tom’s Used Books — whose name lives up to its product — to 2 Illuminate, which offers a variety of candles and other gifts.
The cook determined to find that perfect kitchen gadget is likely to find it at Lodi Cooks, and the antique and clothing shops are numerous.
As if that’s not enough, the rest of Lodi is filled with other stores.
Department stores including Mervyn’s and J.C. Penney are always a safe bet, and low-priced goods can be found at Target, Big Kmart and Wal-Mart. Home improvement and gardening supplies are plentiful at Orchard Supply and Hardware and ACE, as well as the newly opened Lowe’s.
For name-brand clothing at discount prices, Marshall’s and Ross Dress For Less have plenty to offer, and they’ve even got household items.
Bargain shoppers can also drive about 15 minutes north to Galt, where a weekly outdoor flea market offers a variety of wares every Tuesday and Wednesday. In Lodi, the May and October Street Faire provides hours of walking and hundreds of booths.
Additionally, throughout the summer months, Thursday night farmers markets in downtown Lodi offer a range of fresh produce, as well as booths offering novelty items including cleaning products and jewelry.

Those looking for more unique gifts can browse downtown shops such as Frames and Fine Things, which offers items featured in its name, as does Roger’s Railroad Junction and Hobbies.
Looking for specific furniture? Scott’s Bare Furniture and Minerva’s Furniture are both located in downtown Lodi.
And one-of-a-kind clothing may be found at Secondhand Rose or Christensen’s. For children’s clothing, stop by Zoop-A-Loop, also located downtown.
When in doubt and needing a present, gift certificates are never a bad thing. Lodi has a variety of restaurants and specialty stores, and even passes to the 12-screen movie theater are bound to make someone’s day.
Specialty food items are also available at Lodi Nut Company, as well as Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory.
And, when in doubt, simply walk down School Street and its adjoining side streets, or cruise down Kettleman Lane. Shops are plentiful, as are eateries and coffee shops for those who have simply shopped until dropping.
