When visiting the Lodi area, there are a range of places to stay — inns nestled in vineyards, a place to park your Jamboree or Sprinter and multi-floor discount hotels for budget-minded travelers.

Lodi’s accommodations cannot be discussed without the inclusion of the luxurious Wine & Roses Hotel and Restaurant.

Wine & Roses features 36 elegant rooms and a highly regarding on-site restaurant, allowing guests to relax in self-contained leisure. Rates start at $139 per night for the Historic Inn Room. The premium Vintner Suite with Loft goes for $365 per night.

Rooms include in-room dining services, access to a spa, terraces with garden views, fireplaces, hot tubs, refrigerators and mini-bars. For guests on business trips, dataports and voicemail services are also available. Wine & Roses also offers a complimentary continental breakfast.

The hotel is set on seven acres of greenery on West Turner Road. The restaurant offers breakfast, lunch and dinner daily and a special Sunday morning champagne buffet brunch from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Wine & Roses also offers wedding and business retreat packages.

Not to be outdone, the Amorosa Inn & Gardens on East Harney Lane in southern Lodi offers a quaint four-room bed and breakfast on property graced by vineyards.

The inn, owned and operated by Renae and Mike Matson, offers rates of $145 or $175 per night, depending on the room. Advance reservations are suggested, as the weekends for the month of September are already filled up. Reservations made two to three weeks in advance are advised in the off-season.

The inn opened in spring of 2003. The Matsons also own Vino Con Brio, a winery in Lockeford. The inn was originally a custom-built, 3,500 square foot home.

Complimentary wine and appetizers are offered to guests in the evening, and of course, a breakfast is provided in the mornings. Each of the three rooms with a queen-sized bed — the Yellow, Apricot and Blue rooms — comes equipped with a private bathroom and a patio.

The Master Suite features a king-sized canopy bed, a plasma TV, a sauna, a fireplace and a patio. There is a two-night minimum on weekends for the room.
