Want to shop until you drop? Then try Lodi
Whoever said there’s nowhere to shop in Lodi, must not be looking very hard.
Despite not having a regular mall, there are plenty of places to shop here. From kitchen gadgets to baked goods to goodies for your dog or child, even the pickiest is sure to find something in Lodi — and that’s only in the downtown area.
School Street has boomed, offering everyone a piece of the shopping experience.
Whether you’re looking for new, old or refurbished, clothing store shoppers have a variety of places to pick up both new and used clothes, including Christensen’s and The Clothes Closet. Antique shoppers have many places to go, including Secondhand Rose and Lots of Deals Inside.
2 Illuminate offers the romantic a plethora of candles fit for any room in the house, while Kingdom of Four Paws focuses on the animal lover. Shoppers there can pick up personalized leashes, unique dog dishes and even a snack for Fido.
Less than a block from there, cooks can pick up everything to make a tasty edible creation at, what else, Lodi Cooks.
If you’re looking for a small, unique gift, Lakewood Drugs and Frames and Fine Things are great places to hit. At both, you can find collectibles that both smell and look good.
Vine and Branches Christian book store offers many religious items including Bibles, CDs and religious cards.
Lodi also has plenty of places to buy things that taste good.
If you’re looking for a unique dessert, be sure to visit Cottage Bakery. They offer everything from breads and rolls, to pies and wedding cakes.
The Lodi Nut Company is also a place for snacks, whether it be just a can of nuts or an entire gift pack. And, both Rollin’ In Dough in Lodi and Spaan’s Cookie Co. in Galt offer cookies to go by the half dozen.
If boutiques or small locally owned businesses aren’t your thing and you would rather shop in a well-known chain outlet, Lodi also has a few of those to offer.
Choose from Mervyn’s and J.C. Penney for your clothing goods, and Wal-Mart and Target for the bare necessities. Marshall’s and Ross Dress for Less are the spots for bargain hunters.
(All six are located on Kettleman Lane.)If you still haven’t gotten your shopping fix, head north to the Galt Flea Market. A citywide affair, it happens every Tuesday and Wednesday, from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m.
And, Lodi offers a local street faire twice a year (the first Sundays in May and October) where vendors from all over the state sell their wares. You can pick up a bar of homemade soap or a bouquet of fresh flowers, among other things.
The seasonal Lodi Farmer’s Market held in downtown Lodi beginning in May and running until October is a great place for locally grown fresh fruits and vegetables.
