Favorite place to eat: Shangri-La Asian Bistro & Sushi Bar in Downtown Lodi (203 S. School St., Suite A) has great happy hour deals. I love to get their seaweed salad, deep fried calamari, veggie tempura and rainbow roll. I always go with a friend and we never spend over $30 for both of us.
One thing not to miss: The great outdoors, Lodi is a beautiful town and I recommend just being outside. I enjoy going on walks in Downtown, riding bikes all around Lodi, or doing something adventurous like kayaking.
Favorite outing in Lodi: We have a wonderful selection of bars, wineries, and restaurants. On any day of the week, at least one of these places will have a live band or solo artist performing. It’s a lovely way to relax and have fun after a day of work, but still get home at a decent hour.
One secret most outsiders don’t know: It’s not much of a secret as it is just undiscovered by most. I’m a history fanatic and I love the historic Hill House (826 S. Church St.). I recommend it to everyone, tourists and locals. It is a museum and a walk back into a different time. They also have some interesting finds, like the newspapers from the morning the Titanic went down.
Favorite place to browse or shop: Lodi’s selection of antique/thrift stores is fantastic. You can find wonderful retro furniture for your home, or beautiful vintage clothing. But my favorite thing to buy is unique pieces of jewelry.
