Lodi Grape Festival: A whole ‘bunch’ of fun

The Lodi Grape Festival returns on Sept. 12 and runs through Sept. 15, offering animal shows, winetastings, a midway and much more.

The festival is a popular and traditional celebration in Lodi, the biggest local cultural event of the year.

Visitors can enjoy The Wine Cellar tasting sessions from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, 2 to 4 p.m. and then 6 to 8 p.m. on Saturday and 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday.

The festival will also have the Wild About Monkeys Show, which features various primates, including some shown in in movies.

Tractors will be showcased in Tractor Town, from new John Deeres to vintage equipment.

And the entertainers to be featured this year are Shane Dwight, Dave Mason, Foghat, Mick Martin and the Blues Rockers with Walter Trout.

The festival grounds are located at 413 E. Lockeford St. The festival will be open from 4 to 11 p.m. on Thursday, noon to midnight Friday and Saturday, and noon to 11 p.m. on Sunday.

Admission is free for children five and under, $5 for those 6 to 12, and $9 for everyone else.

On Thursday, kids 12 and under get in for free, and on Friday, everyone gets in for free from noon until 5 p.m.

Festival parking is $5.

Visa and Mastercard will be accepted to pay for entrance fees and ride tickets. There are three ATMs located at the Grape Pravilion.

Starting on Aug. 1, tickets can be purchased online. Beginning Sept. 11, tickets can be bought at Rancho San Miguel, Food-4-Less and the Grape Festival business office.
