What is your favorite place to eat?

My favorite local restaurant is Rosewood (28 S. School St.). Good food, good service and good value.

What is the one thing not to miss on a tour of Lodi?

Probably Lodi Lake. I think it’s one of the more unusual features we have that is not found in many communities.

What is your favorite outing in or around Lodi?

Just a spring drive thoughout the agriculture community as the vineyards are beginning to blossom and bloom.

What’s one secret most outsiders don’t know about the Lodi area?

It’s the level of community involvement. It’s the extraordinary level of volunteerism and the extra interest people take in making Lodi a better place.

What is your favorite place to browse or shop?

I’m not a shopper. I leave that up to my wife.

What should visitors know about Lodi?

We are a compact community, we are an attractive community, we are a safe community. For the most part, we are a well run community, and we are surrounded by some of the best wine grapes in the world.

What’s your favorite place to drink wine?

I’m not a wine connoisseur by any stretch of the imagination. If I were to go some place to enjoy a glass of wine, it would be cellardoor (21 N. School St.).

What’s the best place for recreation?

We have some nice golf courses. Going back to Lodi Lake, if you are into it, you can kayak and canoe up and down the river. You can go to Cosumnes River, take a kayak out to the Delta, and it’s kind of a tranquil way to spend the day.

Where can you go to see the best art?

Probably the Knowlton Gallery (115 S. School St., No. 14). They have a continual mix of art. They are constantly bringing in new ideas, new concepts, new art. They are doing a lot to encourage art in the community.
