Patricia Sherman is the director and co-founder of Animal Friends Connection.
Q: What is your favorite place to eat?
A: Scooters and Casa Mexicana. They both support Animal Friends Connection, but I do like to eat at both.
Q: What’s one thing not to miss on a tour of Lodi?
A: I think that Lodi Lake is our crown jewel, along with the revitalized Downtown and the Walldog paintings. I think they are both right up there. Not every town has a Lodi Lake, and our Downtown is beautiful to walk through now.
Q: What is one secret most outsiders don’t know about Lodi?
A: Most outsiders don’t realize how many wineries we have now. I think we can really compete with Napa.
Q: Favorite place to browse or shop?
A: It depends on the type of shopping we’re talking about. I love Weigum’s Nursery. It’s not just the plants, but I love their gift shop.
Q: What is the coolest thing about Lodi?
A: I think overall our city is very supportive of our nonprofits in town. It’s a nice family town.
Q: What’s the best thing about the Animal Friends Connection?
A: We save a lot of cats and dogs. We’re conscientious of the homes we place them back into. We are trying to find the best match for that particular dog or cat. I think that’s a good quality for us. Our mission is it’s not just adoption but the perfect match and we try to educate along the way.
Q: What do you love about animals?
A: They are so graceful, especially the newly rescued ones. They are usually traumatized for a day or two and then realize they are going to be taken care of and they are so grateful. If you show them any kindness they are ready to give it back threefold.
