Children love visiting and playing in Lodi

Visiting the Lodi area with children? Here are some great spots where you can all get some fresh air, let them run wild or embrace their creative side.

Lodi Lake Park

1101 W. Turner Road, Lodi

Nature trail, swimming, tiny tot water feature, boat rentals.

Hours: Public swimming is open until sunset Monday through Sunday, Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day.

Fees: $3 adults, $1.50 ages 3 to 17, 2 and under free.

Available for rent: Pedal boats, $5 per half-hour; single kayaks, $4 per half-hour; tandem kayaks (two people), $5 per half-hour

A vehicle entry fee is collected for entry into Lodi Lake Park whether or not a gate attendant is on duty. A self-serve pay station is available directly north of the entry gate. Lodi residents are $4 daily, while non-residents are $5; seniors (62 and older) and disabled (must display disabled parking pass): $2 Lodi residents, $3 non-resident.

Impact Sports & Play Center

Hours: Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Offers more 9,000 square feet of non-competitive gymnastics, tumbling, rock wall.

Admission: $7 for open play (gym membership not required).

Lodi Skate Park

Kofu Park, 1145, S. Ham Lane, Lodi

Inline, roller skates or skateboards only.

Hours: 2 p.m. to sunset on weekdays; 9 a.m. to sunset on weekends and holidays.

World of Wonders Science Museum

2 N. Sacramento St., Lodi

Hands on museum where children and adults can learn about the world around them through science experiments and displays.

Hours: Wednesday through Monday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; closed Tuesdays.

Admission: Adults (18+), $6; seniors (60+), $5; students (18+, ID required), $5; children (2-17), $4. Teachers with ID, free.

The Mud Mill Pottery Painting Studio

115 S. School St. No. 1, Lodi

Choose from more 300 bisque designs and 70 different colors to paint pottery. Return later for a finished product.

Hours: Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.; Friday, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.; closed Sunday.

The Serpentarium: A Living Reptile Museum

2379 Maggio Circle, Suite C, Lodi

The Serpentarium is a privately owned display of reptiles exhibited in their natural habitat, including anacondas, a 200-pound Burmese python and a 7-foot crocodile monitor.

Hours: Tuesday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Admission: Adults (18-64), $5; child (3-12; 2 and under free), $3; senior (65+), student (13-17) and military/veteran, $4.

Micke Grove Regional Park

Includes a 5-acre zoo, San Joaquin County Historical Museum, Japanese Garden, Fun Town at Micke Grove amusement park, and during summer month, a water play feature.

Park entry/parking is $5 per vehicle.

Fun Town summer hours: April 1 through September. Weekdays, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.; weekends, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Winter hours: 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.

Admission: $1.75 per ticket, book of 10 tickets, $15.

Micke Grove Zoo

Hours: Open daily (except Christmas) from 8 a.m. to sunset.

Admission: Adults (14+), $5; youths (3-13), $3; children 2 and under, free.

San Joaquin County Museum

Summer hours: Wednesday after Memorial Day through the first Sunday in November, Wednesday through Sunday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Winter hours: Wednesday through Sunday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Admission: Adults (18-64), $5; seniors (65+) and teens (13-17), $4; children (6-12), $2; children 5 and under, free.

Cosumnes River Preserve

Hiking, trails, bird watching, kayaking.

Hours: Visitor Center open Saturday and Sunday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The preserve is open 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on weekdays, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekends.

Public swim hours in the spring (through second week of June) are weekdays, from 3:30 to 7:45 p.m., weekends from 1 to 7 p.m. In the summer (through mid-August), weekdays from 1:30 to 5:30 p.m., and weekends, 1 to 7 p.m.; fall (through Sept. 1), weekends, 1 to 7 p.m.

Admission: Toddlers (4 and younger), $1.75; youths (5-12), $2.75; teens (13-17), $3; adults (18-59), $3.25; seniors (60 +), $1.75.
