Q: What is your favorite place to eat?

A: It’s a tie between Taste of Thai and Saigon Grill. Both offer lots of vegetarian options, and the food is always healthy, fresh and delicious.

Q: What’s one thing not to miss on a tour of Lodi?

A: The nature trail at Lodi Lake is gorgeous any time of year, and it’s so peaceful. Though I do wish they’d allow dogs on leashes for at least part of it, because I can’t take my dogs with me when I walk it.

The Spa at Wine and Roses is glorious too.

Q: Favorite outing in or around Lodi?

A: I’m from San Francisco, so when friends and family visit they enjoy walking around Lodi to see the older homes and streets, the great, old houses and mature trees and gardens. They also dig Downtown, the train station, the old buildings and the Knowlton Gallery.

Q: What is one secret most outsiders don’t know about Lodi?

A: That it’s stunning through all four seasons, and it’s an easygoing, user-friendly place. No traffic jams or parking-space challenges. Restaurants are almost free compared to San Francisco.

Q: Favorite place to browse or shop?

A: Hands down the Lodi House Thrift Store on Lodi and Central avenues. The donors are generous because they know the store funds Lodi House’s shelter and programs for homeless women and kids. There are often vintage and unusual items for sale at great prices.

Q: Is there something quirky, but cool, about Lodi?

A: Lots. Breakfast of Champions Way; the best views in town happen to be from the fourth floor of the hospital (on a clear day you can see Mt. Diablo to the west and the Foothills to the east); and just about everywhere you go, folks are uber-friendly.
