Visiting the Lodi area with kids? Here are local hot spots to keep you both busy:

World of Wonders Science Museum

2 N. Sacramento St., Lodi

Hands-on science museum where children and adults can learn about the world around them through science.

Hours: Friday, noon to 7 p.m.; Saturdays and Sundays, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Admission: Adults (18+), $6; Seniors (60+), $5; Students (18+), $5; Children (2-17), $4.

Hill House

826 S. Church St., Lodi


Built at the turn of the century, Hill House was the home of George Washington Hill, his wife Mary Hill and their children, Nellie and Maurice. Mrs. Hill’s half-sister, Daisy, also lived at Hill House.

Hours: Volunteers conduct tours most Sundays from 1 to 4 p.m. Special tours may be arranged by calling 209-369-6073.

Admission: Donations.

San Joaquin County Historical Society & Museum

11793 N. Micke Grove Road, Lodi


Summer hours: Wednesday after Memorial Day through the first Sunday in November, Wednesday through Sunday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Closed Mondays, Tuesdays and certain holidays.

Winter hours: Wednesday after first Sunday in November, through the Sunday before Memorial Day. Open Wednesday through Sunday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Closed Mondays, Tuesdays and certain holidays.

Admission: Adults (18-64), $5; Seniors (65+), $4; Teens (13-17), $4; Children (6-12), $2. SJC Historical Society members are free. Per vehicle parking fee due upon entering park. Waived for SJC Historical Society members. Additional fees may be required for special events or exhibitions.

Rae House Museum

204 Oak Ave., Galt

Its garden is dedicated to the Galt area pioneers and is filled with more than 100 varieties of colorful roses that bloom during spring/summer months. Inside the Rae museum, the visitor is treated to special displays in the “Pioneer Room,” a 200-year-old spinning wheel and old wood stove in the kitchen.

Hours: The first Sunday of each month from 1 to 4 p.m., March through December.

McFarland Living History Ranch

8899 Orr Road, Galt


The Serpentarium: A living reptile museum

2379 Maggio Circle, Unit C, Lodi


Snakes, lizards and tarantulas! Oh my!

Hours: Monday to Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Saturday to Sunday, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Admission: $2 per person; ages two and under are free. Guided tours are also available. Reservations required.

Mud Mill Pottery

Painting Studio

115 S. School St., No. 1, Lodi


The Mud Mill is a great place to spend a couple of hours and paint to your heart’s delight. Choose from over 300 bisque designs and 70 different colors.

Hours: Saturday, Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.; Friday, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Closed Sundays.

Fee: $7 for adults plus pottery piece and two hour studio time. $5 for kids 12 and under plus pottery piece and two hour studio time. Coupon online.

Geocaching in Lodi

Lodi Skate Park

Inline skates, roller-skates or skateboards only.

Hours: 2:30 p.m. to dusk on weekdays; 9 a.m. to dusk on weekends and holidays.

Galt Skate Park

620 Chabolla Ave., Galt

Skateboards, roller-skates and inline skates. Picnic area and barbecue. Lighted and restrooms.

Hours: 9 a.m. until dusk; 2:30 p.m. to dusk when school is in session.

Mojica’s Batting Cages

125 E. Elm St., Lodi


Indoor batting cages.

Hours: February through July: Monday through Friday, 2:30 to 9 p.m.; Saturday, noon to 8 p.m.; Sunday, noon to 6 p.m. August through January: Monday through Friday, 2:30 to 9 p.m.;  Sunday, closed.

Dugout Batting Cages

Indoor hitting and pitching practice area for baseball and softball

Hours: Tuesday to Friday, 3:30 to 7 p.m.; Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Sunday, noon to 4 p.m. Closed Mondays.

Pricing: $2 for 1 token (1 token gives 18 pitches); $25 for the Dugout Token Card (15 tokens); $20 for half-hour rental (per cage), $40 for one hour rental (per cage).
