Lodi Police Department detectives have charged 36-year-old Wendell Anthony Lindsey of Lodi on Friday with the murder of Luis Alvarez Jr.
Alvarez was shot and killed on April 2, 2016. That day officers responded to a report of a man down in the street in front of 18 S. Main St. Alvarez suffered a gunshot wound to the chest and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Lodi police conducted months of investigation while detectives collected enough evidence to charge Lindsey with the murder, according to the Lodi Police Sgt. Mike Manetti.
The suspect, Lindsey is currently in custody at the San Joaquin County Jail and is set to be arraigned today at 1:30 p.m. at the Stockton courthouse in Department 35.
