Lodi police responded to a report of a negligent discharge of a firearm and a pursuit this weekend leading into Monday. Both of those incidents resulted in arrests.

On Sunday afternoon at 3:01 p.m., officers responded to the area of School Street and Tamarack Drive where a female juvenile had suffered a gunshot wound to the back, according to Lodi Police Sgt. Steve Maynard. The injury was not life-threatening and she was treated at an area hospital.

Jeffery Daniel Kirschenman, 18, was arrested on suspicion of negligent discharge of a firearm, assault on a person with a semi-automatic firearm, carrying a loaded handgun and not being the registered owner and carrying a concealed weapon, according to Lodi police.

On Monday morning, Lodi police officer Daniel Bristow attempted to stop a vehicle for having expired registration and failing to stop at a red light near Tokay Street and Ham Lane, according to Maynard.

Bristow was led on a vehicle pursuit that ended in an orchard in Acampo on the 2800 block of North East Road.

The pursuit ended when the suspect crashed into a tree and fled on foot for five minutes through vineyards and orchards, Maynard said.

One man, Jason Crawford was taken into custody and arrested on suspicion of hit and run, evasion, resisting arrest and other vehicle violations, Maynard said.

Both suspects were booked into the Lodi City Jail.
