Trial date set in Galt abandoned baby case

A March 26 trial date has been set in Sacramento County Superior Court for Dwanda Mahoney, charged with attempted murder for abandoning her newborn baby in Galt shortly after she gave birth.

Winegrapes top crop in Sacramento County

Winegrapes, milk and pears help keep Sacramento County agriculture at the top of its game, according to the newly released Crop & Livestock Report. The year 2013, the most recent data available, brought in a crop production value of $457.3 million, the second highest in county history.

Terry Parker-Owning to lead Galt Chamber of Commerce, Galt high school district board

2015 is a big year for Terry Parker-Owning. Not only was the Galt real estate agent chosen as this year’s Galt Chamber of Commerce president, but her peers selected her president of the Galt Joint Union High School District, as well. Her current term expires in 2016.

Galt citizens can write own police reports online under new system

Galt Councilwoman Lori Heuer dreams of securing Delta College campus

Background: The new Galt City Councilwoman grew up in Citrus Heights, at the other end of Sacramento County. She graduated from high School in 1976, and three years later earned her associate degree in psychiatry technology from San Joaquin Delta College.

Marijuana ordinance before Galt Planning Commission tonight

Some residents would like to see the city of Galt ban growing marijuana within city limits, even if it’s for medicinal purposes. The process to create an ordinance to do just that will begin at tonight’s regular Galt Planning Commission meeting.

Galt Market rolls out new electronic payment system for produce

Fresh fruit and vegetable buyers were able to use their CalFresh/Electronic Benefit Transfer payment cards at the Galt Market for the first time Tuesday. About half the vendors are participating in the new program.
