		Sonia Gill Age: 17 Future plans: Attend UC Davis to possibly study biomedical engineering. “Who knows? 		Tony Flemmer Age: 18 Future plans: Attend UC Berkeley to study English and political science. To become an author, English/political science professor, and/or American Civil Liberties Union activist. Activities: Drama club, theater, California Scholarship Federation Awards and scholarships: Bank of America Liberal Arts Achievement award, CSF Sealbearer, November 1999 Employee of the Month at McDonald’s, Regents Scholarships at UC Santa Barbara and University of Judaism Most memorable experience: Making a wall of Socialist propaganda in my English class. 		Sarah Ferrero Age: 17 Future plans: Attend UC Davis to pursue a career in engineering. Activities: Competitive speech and debate, Friday Night Live club, Interact club and badminton Awards and scholarships: National Merit Scholar, Who’s Who Among America High School Students, California Scholarship Federation Sealbearer and Advanced Placement Scholar Most memorable experience: Being a nerd. 		Emily Splain Age: 17 Future plans: Work at a civil engineering firm for the summer. Attend Harvey Mudd College. “After school I want to become a chemical engineer. Eventually though, I want to teach high school math and science.” Activities: Cross country, track, California Scholarship Federation, science club, math club, Nerds 2000, Science Olympiad, Vocational Industrial Clubs of America, Block L, Link Crew and speech and debate. Awards and scholarships: The Record Pinnacle Team, Principal’s Leadership Award, CSF Sealbearer, Golden State Exam Sealbearer, gold medal in VICA state competition, gold medal in the state competition for Science Olympiad in qualitative analysis, Bill Bowers Award “Most Inspirational Athlete” for track team and Bank of America Plaque Winner Most memorable experience: Being a senior with a freshman brother. “Being able to share high school together has brought us closer and improve our friendship.” Parents: Carol Splain

		Toni Jo Canton Age: 18 Future plans: Have one last awesome summer with my friends, then go to UC Davis with an undecided major in the field of life sciences. “I want to have a job I love to go to everyday and a family that I spend a lot of time with. Then of course the essentials: a mansion, a BMW, and a yacht.” Activities: Student government, Link Crew, California Scholarship Federation, Pep Club, Block L Club, Teen Lead, FHA and Nerds 2000 Awards and scholarships: The Record Pinnacle Team, Scholar Athlete, CSF Sealbearer, Finalist in NHRP, John Gianonni Foundation Scholarship and Davis Alumni Scholarship Most memorable experience: “Everything from being scared the first day of freshman year to leaving the friends that I’ve grown to love as a senior.” Parents: Tony and Lynda Canton

		Ryan J. Bruno Age: 17 Future plans: Attend UC San Diego. Undecided, perhaps engineering or medical. Activities: Soccer, track, wrestling, Link Crew and California Scholarship Federation Awards and scholarships: Boys State, CSF and SJAA All League. Most memorable experience: “The whole thing rolled up together.” Parents: Rick and Diane Bruno

		Mona Mardini Age: 17 Future plans: Attend UCLA. “I am undeclared as of now, but hopefully next year I will major in psychology. I hope to be able to run my own practice and family and live to appreciate all the little things.” Activities: Student Government (Freshman Assembly, Junior and Senior Class President), soccer, tennis, powder puff football, Goethe soccer, conflict management, Link Crew, Block L, Pep Club, FHA, Students in Prevention, Girl’s State Delegate. Awards and scholarships: Flame Foundation Promising Student award, California Scholarship Federation Sealbearer, Most Distinguished Senior, Xerox Award and Masonic Award Most memorable experience: Putting on the 1999 Junior/Senior Prom. “It was an awesome feeling to see how much hard work, determination and heart can pay off with the support of everyone involved.” Parents: Mazen and Haifa Mardini

		Gilbert F.D. Nunez Jr. Age: 17 Future plans: Attend Revelle College at UC San Diego with undecided major Activities: Nerds, Modern Languages Club, Donz club, chess club, Block L, science club, California Scholastic Federation, wrestling, track, cross country, pep club, On-Fire club, Link Crew, Teen Lead Most memorable experience: “Although many moments have been significant to me, my most memorable experience was intoning Britney Spear’s infamous exasperating song ‘Sometimes’ at a rally.” Parents: Gilbert O. 		Laura Matters Age: 17 Future plans: Attend Oberlin College to study vocal performance and English. Activities: Music Appreciation Club, California Scholarship Federation and San Francisco Girls’ Chorus Awards and scholarships: San Francisco Girls’ Chorus Alumni Association Merit Scholarship and Golden State Exam, High Honors in English Most memorable experience: Performing in three San Francisco operas. “To be able to work hard all your life and be rewarded by doing something you love so much is truly wonderful.” Parents: Rev.
