anderson.jpgLodi Academy senior Kirk Anderson’s worst grade in school was a “S-plus” in handwriting, he recalls.

The 19-year-old student attended the Lodi Seventh-day Adventist school since he was in kindergarten.

Despite the handwriting grade, Anderson scored a 4.02 grade point average, the highest of the 25 students in his senior class.

Anderson, a sports enthusiast, said he’ll take many fond memories with him of high school.

“I’m going to miss the sports tournaments like basketball and football tournaments,” he said.

Some of the sports he was involved with included football, basketball, softball and volleyball.

Anderson also has entertained his classmates as a musician.

For the past two years, he’s played the guitar in a youth band called “Youth in Christ.” The band frequently performed at area Seventh-day Adventist churches.

He also plays the trumpet and sings in choir, he said.

Adding to his accomplishments, Anderson helped tutor elementary school students and was the school’s senior class president.

Anderson said he will miss the small scale of the school when he moves to college.

“You get to know everybody and form deeper relationships,” he said.

But Anderson looks forward to the challenges of college, he said.

He plans to attend Pacific Union College in Angwin, near the Napa Valley to study pre-medicine or biochemistry. He hopes to pursue a career as a pediatric oncologist.
