Nearly 50 wineries and thousands of wine enthusiasts will converge on Lodi Lake this weekend for ZinFest, the celebration of the region's most popular winegrape. The annual event, now in its sixth year, has become the region's premier wine event. Held during the middle of May, officially dubbed "Zinfandel Month" in Lodi, ZinFest features live music, wine seminars, cooking classes and unique merchandise from vendors.
The three-day event kicks off Friday at 6 p.m. with the Vintner's Grille. The sold-out tasting features food from Papapavlo's Bistro and Bar and a dessert bar presented by the Delta College Culinary School. The dishes and decadent treats will be paired with many of the area's most popular Old Vine Zinfandels.
