The Leadership Lodi Class of 2013 spent a long day at the Lodi Police Department on Aug. 13. No, we weren’t behind bars, we were learning about how Lodi’s law and justice sector works!
Our guide for the day, Lt. Sierra Brucia, started our day with some important statistics on the type of manpower it takes to serve and protect our great city of Lodi: 71 budgeted and sworn officers and 33 civilian employees, not to mention that it takes a general fund budget of $16.8 million. Chief Mark Helms, who spent most of his law enforcement career working for the city of Stockton, welcomed us and gave us an overview on the police department and the difficulties of having to close the Lodi Courthouse.
