What's the latest with some of our local businesses? The News-Sentinel has scoured wire services, news outlets and various media sources around the nation to provide a brief look at some of Lodi's businesses with national ties.

General Mills, Inc.: The company, which employs roughly 500 people locally, is looking to purchase more eggs produced by cage-free hens, according to the St. Paul Pioneer Press, a daily newspaper in Minnesota. General Mills announced it would buy 1 million of the eggs in the 2011 fiscal year. Cage-free eggs are used in such General Mills items as Haagen-Dazs ice cream.
