Lodi's proximity to major freeways, railroads and winegrape growing regions - including its own Appellation vineyards - has helped the city become a hub for the building, storage and shipping of viticultural equipment.
When the number of vineyards in Lodi grew dramatically in the 1990s, so too did other industries associated with grape growing, said Mark Chandler, executive director of the Lodi-Woodbridge Winegrape Commission. Local companies like Ag Industrial Manufacturing, Inc. and Acampo Machine Works have capitalized, becoming major providers of grape harvesters, spraying and pruning equipment for growers across the state.
