David Akin did not set out to be a winemaker, although he had grown up around wine. His goals were geared toward medical research and finding a cure for cancer. But the solitude of the lab and the minimal interaction with people were too confining for him, so returned to the wine business in 1969.
Akin has spent many years making wine, perfecting his craft and consulting for wineries throughout Lodi and the Coastal Valley. In 2002, after years of working for others, he returned to Lodi to pursue his dream of owning his own winery and making his own wine — Akin Estates
