The Downtown Lodi Farmers Market has joined other markets throughout the state allowing individuals to purchase fresh fruits and vegetables using government assistance.
“The Lodi District Chamber of Commerce has been working with the U.S. Department of Agriculture for the past several months in order to become certified to start accepting SNAP — or Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program — at the market,” said Chet Somera, special events manager for the chamber. “SNAP is the modern version of food stamps.”
