For close to five years, Ryan Sherman has been selling real estate in Lodi, his hometown. In such a relatively short time, Sherman has gone from mere rookie to the Lodi Association of Realtor's president for 2009.

As Sherman prepares to take the reins of the presidency from outgoing president Linda Bush, some have told him they don't envy his position in the turbulent housing market. However, Sherman remains optimistic about the future of real estate in the Lodi area.

nextel - thanks for the kind words. scrutiny -not sure what you mean by arrogance? My only purpose in participating on this blog, my own or others is to relay Real Estate info in straightforward manner- I don't expect everyone to be positive. Times are tough and people are frustrated. I only hope I can help answer some questions or direct people to other professionals who do.

Congrats Ryan on your new position as LAR President. I think your Local market knowledge and polished house side manner make the complexion for the connection with this position. My wife and I have enjoyed working with You and are not surprised that You excepted this challenge. Best of luck to You and your Family and a Happy New Year.

Houses for $30,000??? Are you sure that they weren`t just treeforts?

I think your misunderstanding my comments or the flow of wording is disjointed. Theare are always more desirable areas. One area vs. another. The homes on the East side of town are still selling, not at the price point of other homes North and NW of town.....probably reads better. On a side note there were some of the homes on Hilborn, Eden etc. that Sold in $30 -$50k at the end of the year. No, no relation to Larry Underhill.

Desirable areas in Lodi: east Hilborn, Eden, Garfield? You're joking right? Didn't these eastside charmers and estate homes sell for around $275K? They're shown in the SJ county home sales in the Stockton Record every Sunday as being sold for around $100K on today's market and they're realistically worth $50-$75K, aren't they? Or am I misunderstanding you? Are you any relation to the Underhills?

mp - I was born in Visalia and moved to Lodi 30+ years ago - I have lived in Lodi/Woodbridge/Acampo over the years. Thanks

LNS, you say Lodi is his "hometown." But, in the hard copy I received this morning, you state he was born in Visilia. So what is it? Was he born in Visilia or Lodi?
