Mr. Docktor, Lodi has the highest concenttration of wineries. wine labels, and wine companies in the country? Have you been living in a mental instituion for the last 20 years? Your statement is simply not true...not even close. I appreciate your total inaccurate description of the Lodi wine world but it isn't even remotely close to true. I wish it were true but the area has a long way to go to even become number 3 in the country. Napa, Sonoma, Paso, Sierra Foothills, etc. are just a few examples of wine regions with many more wineries than Lodi. You add lables to that mix and we are even further behind. While we may be one of the largest winegrape appellations both in terms of total land and planted acres, that is it. As far as diverse agriculture, I am just glad Lodi has found a niche it can profitably fit into. If this area could compete with other areas with other crops it would...just a matter of the market. But please, go plant some peaches and see how well you compete. I ll stick to winegrapes and hope that someday your inaccurate description of Lodi's place in the wine world actually comes true.

Lodi has the highest concentration of wineries, wine labels, wine companies in the country. It will eventually reach a saturation point where the area cannot support it anymore. Not that the bottom line isn't important, case in point, winemaking and grape growing can be very lucrative. But, over the course of several years Lodi area farmland is not nearly as diverse as it once was. It's hard to ignore the dominant crop is now grapes even more so.
