Tonight, oldest son Christian and I went to see one of our favorite bands, Toad the Wet Sprocket (do not mock please).  Christian and I have traveled to see this band for the last 10 years or so.  And giving that he is getting married this coming October, I figured it was probably our last venture out.  We have been going to concerts since he was 10.  

A couple weeks back Nathaniel and I went to see a play.  Nathaniel and  I both like live action and have been going on "play" dates since he was 6.  Its something we have shared, like concerts with Christian, something in common and something special.

These boys center me.  They bring me back to a place of origin.  

This week I was doing some mosaic work.  Setting the tile perfectly so it had movement and flowed with the pattern I had in mind.  And as much as I was invested in the outcome of this particular piece of work, I knew it would pale in comparison to my finest work:  My sons. 

I believe, in my life, they are my pinnacle of accomplishment.  It doesn't mean I'll stop working, moving and creating, it just means that the heat is off.  Whatever I do will be just fine because I have already climbed the mount and touched the stars.  Some things we don't get right on the first or second try.  But I certainly did.
