About Layla

Layla BohmLayla Bohm covers police and courts for the News-Sentinel. She is also assistant city editor, which means that when City Editor Andrew Adams is gone, she is suddenly Almost In Charge (though Rich Hanner is the big boss).

Layla grew up in a small Northern California town where JC Penney’s was considered a big department store and was about half an hour away from her house. However, she adjusted to the bigger city life of Sacramento and can actually drive her manual transmission on the streets of San Francisco without causing death to all involved. She now lives in Lodi because it’s a bit difficult to commute to a breaking news story about a shooting or large car wreck.

She entertains notions of writing a book and running a marathon, though not simultaneously.

Update: On Dec. 7, 2008, Layla conquered her first marathon. Who knew a marathon would be easier than writing a book?
